October Art Challenge : Spotted

ah I was going to sort of cheat with Sept and Oct and combine them just so I could get caught up in my ACs a bit, but after finishing this, it didn't so much fit so I've skipped to get through October's theme. I'll be working on Sept's soon so it's not that I'm skipping it completely, I've just done the months prior a little out of order... and I'm again a little behind with them, argh.

Though in my defense, the last few months have been especially busy/mind numbing in terms of work and emotional setbacks, so I'm saying I have a valid excuse for the delays. Yes.

ANYWAYS. October's theme, Spotted.

This isn't exactly what I had in mind when I chose the theme, but I'm really pretty happy with this pic because I've been working so hard to push myself out of my comfort zone pose wise and while I tend to fail more often than not in terms of perspective, I think I might of sort of, kind of managed to do good here.

Ish'talla : Omake  The Day Captain Sassy Pants lost her Shadow   _____________________________________    One day, Captain Sassy Pants lost her Shadow.   She isn't sure exactly how it happened or even mind you how it could be possible, but much to her dismay, her Shadow has disappeared.   She'd gone to sleep the night before in her bed that is more than a bed as she's normally so inclined to do. She'd fluffed her giant pillow in her usual way, making sure that it was nice and billowy so that when she fell back, it would puff beneath her head. She'd pulled her soft blankets up until they came t

and wanted to draw it out, so I did. I'm so so anxious to be able to bring Sassy's Shadow home, even though it'll be a while before I'll actually manage it. The Sass is already win with her cute wickle grumpus face, so having that times two will kill me dead with adorable, I just know it :<

I had a really hard time with Sassy's legs here because of the position and an even harder time getting her Shadow's entire body down [I really have problems with perspective when it comes to any sort of top to bottom looking down or back in the distance posing. Some people make it look so easy and I always start in knowing exactly how I want the angle/pose/view to look but as I mention a lot, the translation gets lost between my brain and my hands] So being able to convey basically what I wanted to convey [even if it did take me a million redraws] makes me very happy.

I'll say nothing of my coloring [and my lack of actual light sourcing -snorts], since I've made my stance on that clear time and time again. I'm trying though, to get better, so yay? @_@ /

[you know, I never know exactly where to put my art because of my style D: On one hand it's got a lot of influence from my hardcore animu loving days [which I still like, I'm just just no longer omg!Obsessed] but then also has a lot of influence/developments from my pre-animu sci-fi/fantasy days -depending on the particular art piece I'm doing. So sometimes I stick my stuff in traditional/fantasy and other times I opt for anime/manga... there really needs to be a animufa for a combo of animu style and fantasy or something -haha]

Also also, I really need to stop babbling so much in these artist note boxes, everything is so long and convoluted, seriously. Soz ._.
