Day 95 of 365

Yes so today I'm working on a custom job, and while I'd been waiting for layers of MSC to dry, I decided to get back to blushing Sassy's Pants' hoofs. Once that was done, I figured it was also a good time to blush Za'apphei's boobular area [because while normally I'm not one for body blushing on my dorrus, the Soom boobages actually need it to not look so... fake].

Well then something put me in a right foul mood and I needed to blow off steam. Apparently my idea of doing this is to tackle Za'apphei's Ward Tattoo at that very instant @_@

Yes, so while it's nowhere near done [obviously since I haven't even started on the lower half of it or touched much on her arm] I'm... actually pretty happy with how it's turning out. With all of the complex runes and such, I wasn't sure in the beginning how I'd actually go about it or if it'd even turn out once I tried. Apparently my tried and true method of "just start doing it freehand" works on most things, Za'apphei's tattoo included.

So here we have a WIP of my Bounty Hunter's Ward tattoo, done free hand. I had to pull the entire thing up on her torso higher than my original concept design, mainly because I didn't want the main part of it to get split between her upper and lower torso joints [running the risk of it wearing faster because to redo this... yeah, not sure I'll want to due to the detailing. Instead I moved it up to try and preemptively protect it -heh]

This tattoo is the controlling spell to the one she got put on her brother [*syrinxfox's Zei'kiiel]. It keeps him from thinking about other girls romantically, Za'apphei's special way of keeping her brother tied to her forevers 8D

I was curious, what did you use to draw it on? It looks absolutely stunning and the detail is amazingly well drawn especially since it's freehand (and on such a small body) :D

Thanks so much ^^ I used watercolor pencil to do it, with some blushing added around it so it's not so stark in contrast [well, more than it's meant to be -haha]

Ah, gotcha. Do you wet the pencil when you're drawing it on? I've never used them much for anything so not too sure how they're used. Want to try my hand at a tattoo for one of my dolls at some point, just not sure what best to use. Thanks for the info :)

No, I don't wet the pencils, I just be sure to stick a MSC layer down first and in between layers [especially on complex tattooing like this, I'll do it in steps, get a section done, coat it, then start the next section because that way if you mess up, you can wipe without ruining the entire thing] Watercolor pencils are just best because they are water based and won't damage the resin the way oil based pencils would.

But a lot of the times, I'll coat a layer of MSC first, do an outline, coat it, then fill in.

but really, that ink looks fucking gorgeous. and i love that it's hot pink.

No it doesn't, but since Zei'kki's straight, it doesn't matter. If he had been bi, Za'apphei would have made sure she had that stipulation put into the magic as well xD

And thanks so much ;3; I have this thing for pink, and of the Ish'talla crew, Za'apphei got the result of that when I was designing her -heheh.
